Amma Shiva Shakthi,
“The Silent One”
In her younger years as a house holder, Sri Shiva Shakthi Ammaiyar was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, she would spend day and night in worship and devotion, leading her to ignore the mundane things in life. Being disillusioned and always frustrated, her longing to merge with the divine ever increased. She loved to be left alone and in a deep states of meditation the Self was revealed. She went to Perumal Hill, a holy hill in Salem district of Tamil Nadu, in Southern India where she spent some years in silence. In 2003 she came to Tiruvannamalai, where an ashram was set up. Since her arrival, Ammaiyar, the respectful name for the Mother, gives Darshan to people in pure silence.
When I was living in Puttaparthi, a small village in the South of India, Sri Sathya Sai Baba`s birthplace and the centre of many devotees from all around the world, my inner guidance had given me a message to pack my suitcases and travel to Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu State of Southern India, to see Shiva Shakthi Ma and order to get her Darshan (seeing a holy person). Getting on a bus that was leaving to Bangalore first, then changing to another one, it was finally over ~ I was dropped at the Her Ashram, at the foot hills of the Holy mountain of Arunachala. Thinking it was just for a week or maybe more, I got ready for my first Darshan. Within the seconds of entering the hall my whole life has immediately been transformed. Her silent gazing, while she was standing in front of me, tiny like a bird, looking into my eyes with so much compassion and love, has reminded me of my dear late mother. I cried for weeks and weeks until the ocean of grief has been finally dried up. Over the recent couple of years these Darshans have given me a lot of joy, happiness and cleared numerous distortions within myself. The quality of my life has changed for the better. I can see and comprehend right now what was taking care of this little female body while Sri Ma was looking into my eyes. That, which was welcoming me in Puttaparthi, Same power of LOVE.
